Sunday Poser # 34

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

My question this week is;

How adventurous are you?

If I am asked to describe myself, I would say that I am a conservative, stay-at-home type of person.

But when I look back on my life, the facts belie this opinion I have of myself. I have not sought adventure by myself but when offered the chance to go out of my comfort zone, I have said yes.

I don’t mean that I would go skydiving or zip-lining at the drop of a hat but I have traveled abroad and lived there because my family needed me. I have walked three to four hours, exploring Manhattan and I have been driven to a very high mountain resort through a very narrow and torturous road, which bordered on a steep drop of thousands of feet. I include whale watching in my list of adventures too.

So all in all, I think though I don’t seek adventure, I don’t say no to it when it comes seeking me.

What about you? Do you like to go on an adventure or you politely decline the opportunity when it presents itself?

Please share your thoughts in the comments section.

Thanks for visiting and reading.

  1. People always think of it as a positive, which I guess it is under some circumstances, at least historically when it was a matter of survival if you were willing to explore a new land rather than stay in a bad place. But in my life, every time I was “adventurous,” it turned out to be bad, so now I’m not and things are much better!

    1. You’re right Paula, being adventurous is taken as a positive attribute but it’s not necessarily one. Being sensible is wAy better. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

  2. Same here. I’ve had adventures come my way because we traveled around to a lot of different places, but I’d never been a dare devil and seek out scary things to do. Now we are happy to just take it easy at home. 🙂

    1. That’s good Barbara. It’s good to be able to handle a life which is out of the ordinary because of circumstances but not to actively seek thrills. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

  3. I can sum it up in two words………. not very!
For someone who likes to know where they’re going and have a definite plan, it was definitely adventurous for me to go to NZ on my own in 2010 to see Bro. My SIL made sure I saw a lot of her country, but I had an entire week away on a mini trek which included a whale watch and trip to Christchurch after the earthquake totally reliant on public transport and hostels (admittedly pre booked) rather than driving. Wonderful adventure!

    1. Planners are seldom the impulsive adventurers but going by yourself to New Zealand was a great adventure Di ! It’s wonderful that you did. It and enjoyed yourself too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

  4. I often associate the word adventurous with spontaneous. For a long time, I was not very spontaneous, nor very adventurous, yet today I find myself more of both. Still, no sky diving or zip lining for me either! 🤣

  5. I feel we are cut of the same stuff, Sadje! While I tend to hang back, if I’m dared or intrigued, I will pursue some adventure, but I don’t go out of my way to be daring. I’ll leave that to the thrill-seekers! 🙂

  6. I’m not a daredevil, but I like to try new things. I think adventurous can be a state of mind or an attitude too. I try to make every day an “adventure”… exploring new things, even if it’s just a street in my neighborhood I don’t usually use, or talking to the birds, or trying to look at usual things in a new way…
    I’d like to go sky-diving… someday.🌷🤗🥰

    1. I liked your thoughts on adventure Angie. Yes you’re right, it can be thinking out of the box! Skydiving….. hmm it would be a fantastic feeling, falling from a height! I hope you can do it my friend. Thanks 🙏 for sharing your thoughts

  7. When I was younger I used to be quite adventurous. Well, maybe not “quite” adventurous, but fairly adventurous. But now that I’m a senior citizen, I have lost the adventurous gene and I’m content with being relatively mellow.

It’s good to grow wiser and more careful as we grow in age. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Fandango

  8. My sense of adventure depends on the situation.
I am really adventurous when it comes to cooking. I will try anything once and will invent recipes.
When it comes to gardening I really don’t have anything to do with it. This is diffidently an area I can expand on.
When I was younger I would do anything once. I am much more reserved now. I really don;t like flying by the seat of my pants doing anything just to try it.

    1. Most people tone down their sense of adventure as they grow older and wiser. Being adventurous in the kitchen is the best kind. You never know when you can discover a favorite recipe.
