Eugi’s Weekly Prompt – Happiness

Eugenia is the host of Eugi’s Weekly Prompt

Ah, happy day, refuse to go!
Hang in the heavens forever so!
Forever in midafternoon,
Ah, happy day of happy June!

–Harriet Elizabeth Prescott Spofford (1835–1921)

Your Weekly Prompt Happiness – June 24, 2021.

People are running after a phantom they call happiness

They find it’s just an illusion when they try to grab it

It evaporates like a pleasant dream does when we wake up

So where do we find this precious commodity

It lives deep in our hearts, waiting for us to discover ourselves

  1. “They find it’s just an illusion when they try to grab it” Yes, it’s a slippery emotion if we expect to hold on to it. I think one just needs to allow it to unfold in us and feel it when it comes. 🙂 Nice take on the prompt, Sadje!

  2. I agree that when searching for things to cause happiness, it’s incredibly elusive. Like you’re constantly chasing it. I’ve found happiness in being grateful, spending time with family and friends, and letting creativity out.

  3. I like that perspective, Sadje. Taking from a song title, happiness is an, “elusive butterfly” that you can’t capture, but if you still, it will come and alight near you.
