Lynn’s Tuesday Picture Prompt # 54

Glen is the host of LTPP

Art(including pictures and images)should evoke an emotional response in those who are viewing them. That’s why art can leave such a long-lasting and poignant imprint within the depths of our psyche

Your challenge or writing prompt is this:

  • what emotions or feelings get evoked or aroused in you when you look at this photograph taken by Lynn

Remember, the goal isn’t necessarily to tell me and others exactly what the picture is.

The creative goal for all of us is “what does the picture evoke in youwhat emotion; feeling; memory or whatever it may be – what does it arouse in you and to share it that with others.

This is a wintery picture taken a few years ago at Walters Falls, located about an hour away from us. The black/white photo captures the old sawmill and dam. The actual falls would be just at the front of the picture. In addition, there is a lovely country inn located just to the left of the pic.

Memories captured in black and white
Days of old, reminders of peaceful days
The time we were unencumbered with burdens
Carefree vacations spend with family, near and distant
My heart yearns for those bygone days of easy laughter
Sitting with my gramps and learning to be wise
Ah, those were days of simple pleasures and joys

This picture took me back to the days when we all would get together at our grandparents’ house for holidays. We, cousins would laugh and play without a worry in the world. Our grandfather would give us his company, tell us incidents from his life and teach us words of wisdom.

  1. A beautiful poem of memories warmed by the past and alive in the heart’s present. Nicely penned piece and photo, Sadje.
P.S. I agree with you that photos in black and white feel more nostalgic 🌈👍👍

  2. Interesting that this picture made you think about your past. Thanks for sharing those precious memories with us. The picture reminded me of hopelessness and gave me a dry feeling because of the wooden planks on the house. It’s amazing how the same picture can inspire such different emotions in different people.
