Spending all your time reading, you’ve disconnected with real life altogether my son”.

What do you mean dad, I am here every day. I eat with you I discuss how your day is going and you can always count on me for anything you need?”

“I mean your own life. When will you find a job or get interested in someone to make her your life partner?”

“I will find time for those one day I promise. Right now the books are holding my whole attention. I find that when I don’t read I feel lost”

“I hope you do son, I really hope that you do and soon. I don’t want you turning like your uncle who couldn’t find peace even after he died. His ghost haunts the same library when you spend most of your time!”

“Oh… yo….. you mea…..”

Steve stuttered and then his eyes open in wonderment.

It is my uncle whose presence I feel when I go there”. Now I understand why I feel the urge to go there every day. He is trying to communicate with me. Thanks, dad for telling me!”

Steve bounded out of the door and headed towards the library. He had secrets to uncover.
Meanwhile, his dad sat there. Head in his hands and muttering to himself, “what now!”

  1. “Most people live only one life, but a reader can live a million lives.”
    -Someone who said something. I don’t remember who… Hold on, I’ll just Google it real quick;
    Oh, it was George R.R. Martin, who said something ~vaguely~ similar to what I said… I’m not fixing that, it’s close enough.
    Enjoyed the story; will there be more to it??

    1. Thanks CJ! So true that a reader can enjoy a lot of lifetimes worth of adventure! There could be something more to this story, if inspiration strikes.
