WritePhoto # Tunnel

KL Caley is the host of WritePhoto

Welcome to the weekly #writephoto prompt!

The pessimist sees only the tunnel; the optimist sees the light at the end of the tunnel; what do you see?…

I can’t wait to read your entries with this one, I think it could prove a challenge!

The Tunnel – Image by KL Caley

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a tunnel made from trees, branches and grass. Towards the end are 2 ducks.

The light inside was green, as it filtered through the branches of the surrounding trees. He leaned against one of the tree stems and breathed deeply. He was safe at last.

There was no sound of his pursuers and all was quiet. He put his hand in his pocket and drew out the bounty. A man’s wallet bulging with cash! Who carries that much cash these days? He thought. I bet he is a shady character and this money was going in for some underhanded deal. I’m sure he has enough to spare. Thoughts were running through his head, trying to justify picking up the wallet where a man had dropped it in front of the Café. A couple of boys had seen him picking it up and had chased him. Probably they wanted a share of the loot.

He started walking towards the other end, taking care not too make any sound. So engrossed was he in his thoughts of how he will spend the money that he failed to observe the ducks at the other end. As his foot collided with one duck, it gave a loud quack and he cursed loudly.

From the other end of the tunnel, a cop appeared, “here you are, and we thought we had lost you! Better come with us quietly now!”
