Stream Of Consciousnesses Saturday- Collect

Linda is the host of Stream Of Consciousnesses Saturday

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “collect.”Use the word “collect” any way you’d like. Have fun!

So yesterday, we did it! My daughter and grandson went and collected the rescue kitten. So for the first time ever we have a pet kitten!

It’s super active. According to the people who have rescued him, he is around 7-8 weeks old. We still have to take him to a vet and get him checked out, vaccinated, and get instructions on care.

There is an equal amount of excitement and apprehension among the two of us who have committed to looking after our new family member. We don’t want to fail in our care and yet we don’t know much about looking after cats, and kittens in particular!

So wish us luck!

And share tips on good Kitty 🐈‍⬛ care! Thanks 🙏

  1. I’m more a dog person, like Schweta, but one thing I do know. A litter box needs to be cleaned at least every other day to avoid what can become a very stinky corner. Maybe the cat people in the crowd can advise you better! What a darling kitten! Congratulations Sadje! I’m sure he’ll fit right in!

    1. Thank you so much Melanie. Yup, I am doing that. Lucky for us that he has been toilet trained. Right now he is napping on the couch, ousting my husband! 😜😎🐈‍⬛

  2. Dinky is a great name! 😻🥳
Cats are pretty easy. You should get him a scratching post or he’ll use your furniture. Getting him neutered will keep him from “spraying” to mark his “territory” when he matures. If you’re going to let him be an indoor/outdoor cat, a safety collar with an I.D. tag & bell (to warn birds) is a good idea too.

He will want to climb, so anything breakable and valuable should be moved.
A squirt gun with water can be used to deter him from doing things you don’t like… or not😂😂
Cats live by their own rules😉 but they are sweet companions. A lap-full of purring kitty is good for lowering blood pressure.

    1. Thank you Angie for sharing these tips. We have a scratching post for him. Yesterday he climbed my indoor plant and broke a leaf! Squirt gun is a good idea. Thanks again for your valuable tips. 😻🐈‍⬛

  3. Hahahaha. That’s awesome, Sadje. What a cutie. Hmmmm…as some folks have written, cats are pretty easy. One thing for sure, I would suggest not letting the cat dictate feeding time, we made that mistake; and, I think my ex wife is still feeding the cat very early in the morning! 😆

  4. He is so cute! Looks like he is having a good time making himself at home. The best thing you can do for him is to have him neutered as soon as the vet says he can be. Also, look into having a microchip implanted especially if he is going to be an indoor-outdoor pet. If he gets lost and ends up in a shelter or with a vet, he can be identified and returned to you. Also, learn to trim his nails and start doing it right away, so he gets used to it. The vet can show you how. If you see him scratching the furniture don’t scare him by yelling. Take him to the scratching post. Cats are smart, he’ll get the idea.
