Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #119

Fandango is the host of Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge

Welcome to “Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge.” Each week I will be posting a photo I grab off the internet and challenging bloggers to write a flash fiction piece or a poem inspired by the photo. There are no style or word limits.

The painting below is from British artist David Hockney. For the visually challenged writer, the painting shows a gray haired woman wearing a blue dress sitting in a chair. To her left, on the opposite side of a green credenza on wheels is a man in a suit reading a book

Frozen in time
Trapped in their bubble
Doing the same things over and over again
Is this growing old?

Or
learn a new thing everyday
Beat the boredom and blues with innovation
Smile at the vagaries of time
Laugh at the world
Enjoy the bonus time!

    1. Thanks Shweta. I felt the contract between the man and the woman in the painting. One is self absorbed and the other is smiling, eager to enjoy life.

  1. Ok my response to this blog is short but I think funny.

The picture to me is my husband and I 30 years from now me sitting there trying to talk to him and him looking for any kind of distraction.
