WritePhoto – Tower

KL Caley is the host of WritePhoto

Welcome to the weekly #writephoto prompt!

tower is a tall structure, taller than it is wide, often by a significant factor. What is this tower’s story? Over to you.

The Tower – KL Caley

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a tall circular tower with arched windows covered by metal bars. There are trees to the left and a ruined archway to the right.

I loved the feel of this place. The part of the old castle still intact drove my imagination into stories of knights and dragons. How it must’ve felt living in a castle? I thought. There would be an army guarding it against invaders. Perhaps a king lived there or maybe some lesser royalty.

The thoughts ran through my mind as I followed the guide’s monologue as she explained when this castle was built and how long ago it fell into disuse and disrepair. All very fascinating to hear.

But my mind came up with more colorful stories and I was busy reliving those in my thoughts when I heard the wooden door slam shut. In panic I ran towards the closed door.

“Hey I’m still here. Let me out!

“Is anyone out there? Can you hear me?

My voice echoed in the silence and the darkness. I took out my phone to call for help but there was no signal.

I started panicking for real.

Then I heard her laughter. Like a silver bell tingling.

Oh my my, who do we have here”, she said. “All alone and scared! Weren’t you just dreaming about rescuing a damsel in distress? Now here your chance”

There was an eerie light and I could see the faint shadowy form floating in it.

I woke up in my bed next morning. Was it just a dream or did it really happened?
