WritePhoto- Lake

Welcome to the weekly #writephoto prompt!

This week’s prompt is a post with a difference – our first guest photo!

Lake – Image by Sadje

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a lake surrounded by trees and a mountain range in the distance. On the lake edge, you can see a lonesome log floating and a grassy flowered edge.

It has been a tiring year for him for many reasons. He had a lot of trouble at his workplace and had finally quit his job.

With that came home troubles. Kathy wanted them to move to a bigger place as the kids were growing up and were demanding their own rooms. He didn’t know how to sort out his life and finances.

As was his usual, he drove up to the lake in the mountains and sat there reflecting on his life. Why? He asked himself that life was suddenly so fraught with problems. Deep in contemplation, he saw the log floating near the edge. He felt he was like this log, alone and in deep water.

But the log still floated on the water. It didn’t sink because of its buoyancy.

I should draw from my inner buoyancy as well he thought. That’s what his mom always told him. “There’s a deep secret source of courage inside of you, take strength from it when you falter”

He stood up resolutely, he knew how he could fix some of his problems.

Thank mom, he said as he went back.

  1. Good story. I’ve found being out in nature gives me a sense of peace and allows me to shed the clutter for a while. It’s hard to think sometimes when you’re in the middle of things.

  4. Good morning!!!
What a view to wake up to. A peaceful lake not a ripple in sight. The look of solid glass just glides across the lake. I feel like that log off to the side. Just sitting on the sidelines enjoying the peace and quiet.
