Stream Of Consciousnesses Saturday- Mash

Linda is the host of Stream Of Consciousnesses Saturday

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “mash.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

I love banana bread. It’s a good way to use bananas that are past their good-to-eat date. One handy way is to peel the aging bananas and freeze them in a ziplock bag. Once you have enough of them then you can make the bread.

The first step is obviously to mash them up fine. The finer they are mashed, the yummier is the bread. I love mine with walnuts in it. And just to add a bit of something special, I sprinkle the batter with chocolate chips before putting the bread in the oven.

One thing I often wonder about is that why do we call it “bread”?

It has everything a cake has and other variants like made with carrot or dates are called cakes so why this food snobbiness?

Anyway whatever you call it, it’s the best use of bananas to my mind.

  1. Here in the Philippines we usually call it Banana Loaf. But now that you mention it, I don’t often hear people call it Banana Cake…just loaf. One thing’s for sure though, I’m craving me some of this now 😅
