MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt – Three Senses

Sara is our new host for this challenge.

They say, smell triggers memories better than any other sense. But, sometimes you’ll hear a song that brings you back to your teenage years, or see a park that reminds you of your childhood.

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: Choose either sight, sound, or smell, and write a memory it triggers in you.

It’s not common for me because I am not a person given to nostalgic thoughts, much, but sometimes a song playing can take me back to those old days when I listened to that song in the past.

I must add that my husband is the exact opposite of me in this respect. He loves old songs and is often reminiscent of the past.

So it was him playing an old song that took me back almost 42 years when I was in high school. At night I would put n the radio and listen to the latest Indian songs on it. Accompanying this music was my love of reading. I would borrow books from our school library and finish one book almost in a night’s reading.

What fun those days were. Living in a world of our own, no other worries than homework and enjoying every moment.

I’m glad that I lived my school life to my fullest enjoyment, and have no regrets about anything.

Thank you Sara for this trip down the memory lane.

  1. Sight, Sound and Smell
Oh the smell of the turkey cooking took over the house
Grandchildren running around on a Easter egg hunt
The sight of everyone chatting and visiting
The sight of everyone enjoying their meal

Here the laughter and watch as the kids ride their bikes
A trip to the park to watch the kids play
The sounds of the birds in a morning walk
Oh that smell of the BBQ diner is cooking
