Your Weekly Prompt – Canopy – April 1, 2021
♾♾♾♾
Blue sky forms a canopy over my world
It’s neither blue nor does it offers any protection
But to our eyes, it’s the epitome of a beautiful day
Optic illusions that we humans accept as facts
We seek shelter in false hope and expectancy
Avoid the verity and close our eyes to reality
Enjoy the blue sky but find the courage to seek truth
Seek the authenticity, reject the hearsay

That is a really interesting image. I like the blue canopy and even though I know it is something of an illusion, intellectually, my soul hungers for it nonetheless. Yet authenticity is the better way to go, even if it does not always fit in with how we’d like to see life.

The key in your poem (for me at least) was the phrase “through our eyes” – how our perception can influenced by our expectations and hopes. Beautifully said!

Thanks Irma. Everything we see is through our perception.

Excellent poem, Sadje. Is that your picture as well? I love these lines, “It’s neither blue nor does it offers any protection But to our eyes, it’s the epitome of a beautiful day” How true. We never think about blue sky offering protection. It does, of course, or we would have no air to breath.

That is an amazing photo… taken at home or when you were in Washington state? Great poem… we do rely on blue skies to give us a good day.

The Photo was from the free library, it was a misunderstanding when I said it was mine, I thought Marsh was asking about my profile picture. Lol!
Thanks Leigha. You’re right, we do base our perceptions on the visuals.

The skyscraping canopies interested me
I am a tall skyscraper
Always watching you
You think you get away with things
But not from where I view
