Blogging Insights – Leaving Links

TODAY’S QUESTIONS

How important do you think it is to embed links in a blog post?

Self-promotion is important in today’s competitive world. Having said that, I am mostly too lazy to promote my own previous posts. But if you’re writing on a topic that you’ve written before, you can share the link so that you don’t have to write it all over again.

How often do you link to your own previous posts?

Very infrequently. As I said I am too lazy to search my archives for posts to link back to. Besides, as I blog from my phone, the search option in the app is a bit limited so I have to go to the browser to find posts to link back to. There are many award posts where they ask us to provide links to our favorite posts and I usually skip that due to the reasons stated above.

Have you ever left a link on somebody else’s blog?

All the time when I write a post in response to a prompt. It is advisable to share the link in the comments section of the prompt post, because pinkbacks may not work all the time.

I also share the link to my weekly prompt, What do you see on Go Dog Go cafe’s Monday, promote yourself post. It’s a good way to reach out to new readers. As I said in the beginning, self-promotion is very important these days.
