Welcome to Sunday Poser # 18
My question this week is;
Are you in favor of blogging award or not?
In the blogging community, we all have come across blogging awards. Most are created by bloggers themselves to honor/ encourage other bloggers.
When I got nominated for my first award, I was over the moon. But doing an award post is a lot of work. I soon found out that it took a lot of time to respond to an award post. I also found out that most of the seasoned bloggers avoided accepting the whole package of the award post. Most bloggers have started answering the questions asked and have stopped the whole nomination process.
So while I am always honored and excited to be nominated for any of the numerous blogging awards, it is always relegated to the draft folder, when I promise myself that I’ll soon attend to it. I have a few posts that are sitting there, waiting for me to find time to complete them.
Please share your thoughts in the comments section or if you do like, create a post of your own and link it to this post.
Thanks for visiting.

No. I won’t even do them now unless the questions are very different to the ones I’ve already answered (and more than once). And I never link back to the creator, who is getting hits for doing nothing!

It is very repetitive, the questions being too similar. Thanks Paula for sharing your thoughts

I think that they are OK for newbies. but once you get a few of them, it seems like a waste of time.

They remind me of chain letters.

They were fun to do at first, and I did accept a lot of them. It’s a pretty good way for new bloggers to get to know others. After awhile though, most of us who’ve been around a long time have already answered all the questions, and we hesitate to nominate anyone anymore. I stopped quite awhile ago. 🙂

Although I appreciated being nominated, and thanked the person who nominated me. However I never followed through with responding.

I think that’s the right approach. Thanks for sharing your feedback

Hmmm. A good question. I think I’ve received two nominations, and have responded to both, which were fun. However, they do require time. If I received one now, I would have a hard time making the time to respond. I think it’s up to the individual blogger. Thanks for the prompt, Sadje.

Thanks Jeff. It comes down to the time factor and yes, to how many of these one already has done.

It used to be my blogging dream to one day be nominated for an Award. I asked one of the bloggers that I follow, after he seemed to be getting an award nomination every other post, how does someone actually win one of those awards. He explained to me that nobody actually wins any of them. Any blogger can nominate any other for any award, just for fun. A awards that nobody actually wins? Maybe I’m being superficial, but that’s kind of stupid. No thanks. Especially after you guys said how much work it is to respond to an award nomination. Now I know that if someone ever nominates me, I’ll just thank them graciously, and continue on with my normal blogging and re-blogging schedule. Thanks for this post😌

Thanks Bia for sharing your thoughts. Yes, it does seem to be a waste of time. But that first award is very exciting. It’s just a way of showing appreciation in the blogosphere!

No. I have declared my blog to be an award-free blog. There are too many blogging awards and they’ve lost their meaning. That said, I still occasionally receive nominations and I will acknowledge and thank the person who nominated me.

That’s the best way to handle the nominations. Thanks Fandango for sharing your thoughts

Like everyone else, I appreciate the shout outs, and I’ll thank the person who “nominated” me, answer any questions that are new or interesting, but the whole post and link back to the creator… nope.🤷🏼♀️

That I think is the right way to handle these awards. It’s becoming too much work to answer with a separate post. Thanks Angie for sharing your thoughts

It was quite fun in the beginning. Now, I do award posts only if they’re new to my blog. I wind up the repetitive ones with a shout out.

That’s a very good idea. I may follow suit! Thanks for sharing your thoughts

In the beginning, I always participated when I received an award but you’re right, it’s such a process to follow through completely. Now, I accept them but don’t follow their rules. It truly is wonderful getting to know people better and let people know me better, but I just open it up to everyone and let them decide for themselves if they want to participate.

I think maybe one or two times I got awards I nominated people, but I never felt right about including just some and excluding others that were just as talented. I am flattered when someone nominates me. But I will only answer questions now and “nominate” all who read.
