Fandango is the host of Fandango Flash Fiction.

Welcome to “Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge.”

The image below is from artbyrandy at Morguefile.For the visually challenged writer, the photo shows an old man in a lush park setting. He has long white hair and a long white beard and is dressed in back with a guitar hanging around his neck and a bouquet of flowers in one hand.

Matt was always ready for any contingency. Today was no different. Clean clothes and a suit jacket would give him entry into any restaurant. He had flowers with him to cheer up his would-be dinner companions. And the guitar was there to amuse them if they decided to make a picnic of it.

He went to the front door and knocked. The door was opened up by a woman who gave him a beaming smile.

“Come on in Matt. They are just getting ready”

Two boisterous boys ran to welcome their surrogate grandpa.

“Let’s go to the park, Matt. Mom has readied a picnic basket for us”

They went and had a fun-filled day.

Matt had started to visit the children when they lost their father in a road accident. The same accident which cost Matt his left leg.

Now they made a good supper system for each other.
