QUESTIONS:
What should you get rid of, that would make your new year better, and why?
I think if I get rid of my excess weight, I will be happy and healthier. For some reason for the last month or so I haven’t been able to lose any weight. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that I may be gaining weight. So this is number 1 on my priority list.
As for the world around me, I think if we can rid ourselves of this increasing negativity, we would be better off.
What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Uprooting myself and going to live in the United States for 5 years with my daughter and grandson. It meant adjusting to a totally different way of living. Luckily I knew the language, much to the surprise of people who I met there for the first time. Yet it was a daring step. But it broadened my life experience and gave me valuable insight into American culture.
Does your family have a “motto” – spoken or unspoken?
I don’t think my family endorses it but my personal mottos are;
“Things can always be worse than what they are”
And;
“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it”
On a scale of 1-10 how funny would you say you are? (this does not mean ‘smell’ or looks; because this is a judgment free blog!)
I think I am pretty funny, but I don’t think others agree with my view. I’ll give myself a 7!

1) I would like to get rid of my fear to push ahead with setting up an online business. I seem to lack the confidence to get it done. I’m an engineer by trade – not a business man. Maybe I’m selling myself short?
2) Two things. Leaving a solid 20 year job to move across country (small town Ohio to LA) for a new one. Second, approaching a 250,000 gallon tank of burning asphalt with two other firemen, knowing it could blow at any time.
3) The only thing that comes close is “you’re over three times seven years old” meaning you are old enough to know better. Why did you make such a dumb mistake?
4) I’ve been told I have a dry, sort of laid back sense of humor. I’d rate it maybe 7-8…9 if I’m on a roll. 😁

Thanks Larry for an insightful Share Your World! I think you’ve come across as a dry wit guy on the comments I’ve read! Being a firefighter is a daring profession indeed! Many thanks for your service too!

I think stepping out and taking a new path needs just self confidence. I hope you’ll make the right choice. Wow! A burning asphalt tank would be a great risk. Like your family motto!

Thanks, Sadje for Sharing Your World! I think that you’ll do well with your goal of weight loss. It’s to be expected to gain some over the holidays after all, and you’re aware of what you consider to be a problem for you, so success is inevitable! I like your mottos, they reflect your kind and thoughtful nature! Less stress too! I think 7 is a reasonable humor level for you, but to me? It might be a tad higher…8 or 9 or even 10! Have a great week!

Yes, moving and living in another country/culture is very eye opening. A great adventure, but it’s always good to get back home. ❤

I’m so sorry you had to live here during the Orange Idjit’s term.☹
I’m sure you’ll reach your weight loss goal. You’ve done it before. 💃🏼🎶💕🥳

Thanks Angie. I’m finding it hard to get back into the routine, though I am walking around 6 miles a day!
I was there for 1 year of Obama too. Never thought DT could get elected!!!!! 🤪

Your answers to the first question are ambitious. I think I’d feel fifty pounds lighter if we could pull off that decreasing negativity goal — would that count for weight loss too? 😆

It would indeed, because negativity is a heavy burden! 🙏😉

My father had a couple of good ones: ‘Into each life, a little rain must fall,’ and ‘as one door closes, another one opens’. 🙂

I’ve my father say the one about the doors too. They had lot of wisdom, people of our parent’s generation. 👍

It’s good knowing more about you, Sadje! My motto is “rise up above it!”, which was my moms motto when she was alive.

Thanks Eugenia. Yes, rising above it makes good sense. We need to do it more often.
