Letter from the past

A few years ago, my maternal uncle handed me a letter.

It was written by my mom to my grandmother, around 54 years ago. People who are my regular readers know that my mom passed away just short of my 6th birthday. She wrote it a few months before she passed away. So this letter was a unique opportunity for me to know what she was like as a person.

The letter mentioned the upcoming marriage of my aunt. She discussed the clothes she wanted to get made for this wedding. She wrote my measurements to my grandmother as she wanted her to get a dress made for me.

This letter filled me with sadness because I really never knew her as a person, and yet gave me joy to read her thoughts.

It truly was a letter from the past!
