Jack held his phone light at an angle and methodically searched all nooks and crannies of the dryer. But couldn’t see it anywhere.

did you find it?”

“I am looking sweetheart, I am sure I will find it. Don’t worry “

“I have a confession to make, Jack”

“What now!” He said, a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach.

“I just found it in the pocket of my jeans. I’m sorry I put you to all that trouble!”

“Then why didn’t you start the conversation with this”, he said angrily.

“I was just having fun with you. You should be relieved that you don’t have to buy me another engagement ring!”

Tracy’s laugh on the other end was cut off as he ended the call.
