Reena’s Exploration is # 160

Reena is the host of Reena’s Exploration Challenge

Welcome back!

I give you a situation this week.

You go down in a lift that doesn’t stop for hours. When it finally opens, what do you see?

The piece you generate can be fiction, poetry, essay, art, photographs or anything else that your creativity brings forth.

Write a post on your blog, and copy-paste the link in Comments. In case you are using a pingback, do check back to see if it has worked.

Down and down it went

The numbers decreased

And then the light went out

Suddenly it stopped and landed with a loud thud

I felt as if every bone in my body was jarred

The door opened with a whoosh

I expected pitch darkness but was instead

Greeted with blinding light and loud music

Where was I, I wondered aloud as I stepped out

I was greeted warmly and invited to join the party

Bamboozled, I asked what was this place

They smiled and informed me that I was in hell

Hell was supposed to be a punishment I said

Well you can see for yourself, how wonderful it is

Now as I have chosen hell as my abode

All the niceties disappeared into smoke

And I see barren and arid land around me

Nothing to do, nothing to see

Nothing to enjoy, no one to talk

All that I saw previously was just advertising

The reality came too short of expectations

  1. Wow wow wow!! This is excellent, Sadje. I love the “twist”, advertising vs. reality. I know everyone is politically focused, but this relates in so many other ways…fast food, dating websites, even a new job where all you hear about in the interview is the good stuff. GREAT take on the prompt!!
