Share Your World- 5 October’20

Melanie is the host of SYW

Questions:

When was the last time you tried something new?  How did that go for you?

During the lockdown, I experimented with bread making. It was fun and very satisfying. The breads turned out pretty well and it was a good way to use time and resources.

What’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever heard someone say?

I was a great worrier as a child and I always remember my father telling me that “we cannot cross the bridge till we come to it

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

I think I would be around 40 or so, on most days. Then there are days I feel I could be in my twenties, excited, and eager for life. There are certain days I feel that I am old and tired!

Lastly, I’ll be doing one “Halloween” themed question per week during October.  Those who don’t observe the holiday are welcome to answer or to ignore it as they wish.

Fun  CREEPY Halloween Question:

Have you ever seen a ‘fresh’ corpse (aka dead body)?

I don’t remember my mother, but I was forty when my father passed away and I saw him before burial. As Muslims, we bury our dead as they are, no embalming, so I’ve also seen a few other people who had just died.

GRATITUDE SECTION (always optional)

Do you enjoy any seasonal traditions around this time of year?

  1. Thanks Sadje for Sharing Your World! My condolences on your parents, it can be a bit bittersweet to remember them, especially around holiday times of the year. I’ve heard that a lot of cultures don’t embalm their dead, and to me? That’s more environmentally friendly. It must have been sobering to view those bodies. Reminds us of mortality. Letting go of worry and crossing bridges when we get to them (my mother used to say “don’t borrow trouble, until trouble borrows you” which is kind of the same idea) is a good practice to have, but hard to do most of the time. I think humans were just designed to worry about things sometimes. Enjoy your lattes and have a great week!
