FFFCWelcome to “Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge.”

The image below is from the Birmingham Museums Trust from Unsplash. For the visually challenged writer, the image is of a large room with wood paneled walls and an ornate fireplace with an intricately carved mantle. A writing desk sits next to the fireplace near the room’s windows.

“I love this room, its atmosphere, and its opulence,” Jennifer said enthusiastically

“Well, I guess for someone not used to it, it would look posh”, Stephanie said as she looked around, trying to see as her friend would be seeing it. She lived here. This was the formal drawing room where they very seldomly entertained guests. She was giving her new friend a tour of her home.

Growing up in wealth and privilege, Stephanie really didn’t appreciate her situation, rather she took it for granted. While Jennifer came from a less privileged background and looked in awe at how her friend lived.

Both friends benefited from their friendship, both learned to look at life from the perspective of the other.
