PROMPT #149
“How far does optimism go?”
~*~
I think there are two types of people in the world;
Those who are optimistic and those who aren’t.
Optimism cannot be learned or acquired, you either have it in your personality or you don’t.
So for an optimist, there is no end to their optimism. They will continue to see things with rose-colored glasses on, regardless of the many disappointments they suffer in life. The clouds will have a silver lining for them and there will always be light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Of course, they will have periods of time when this optimism will nosedive, but as is the case with most people suffering from optimism, the disease is incurable. So sooner or later, their hopes will start to build up high and they would start to look forward to good things happening again.
Never try to tell an optimist that things are bad and will continue to get worse. They won’t believe you. And that I think, is a good thing. For without optimism, we all would be immersed in gloom, thinking that the world is going to hell in a handbasket and everyone is doomed.

Like I say in my About page, I’m a pragmatic eternal optimist with a touch of cynicism.😂

Optimism is good but sometimes easily lost.

In my personal experience, an optimist stays an optimist.

I have optimistic moments, but would not consider me an optimist. I like to think I have a healthy balance of optimism and pessimism. Life has too many disappointments to not have some pessimism in you.
