There is something that I fear above all others
It’s not an interlude with death or danger itself
Paranormal hold no power over me as I don’t believe in it
My biggest fear is that I may loose my mind
Staring in space with a vacant brain
Thoughts just random, actions without purpose
It would be a sticky situation, which I’d rather avoid at all costs
Because I have seen what it does to reasonable beings
An early demise is far more preferable option to me
Than to linger on, lost in no man’s land!

That is a very real fear, Sadje. Life can be miserable not just for the person who loses mind but for the rest of the family too!

Yes, exactly. I hope no one ends their life this way.

I think being aware and trapped in a body, unable to communicate would be worse. 😱 Dementia, Alzheimers… they’re cruel thieves!

You’re right. That would be even worse.

Oh yes, absolutely.

yes brain dead or dementia would be my worse fear but here we have medical directives where we can insist on no treatment if it happened eg even for a minor infection

In developed countries that’s possible. But in a country like Pakistan, that doesn’t work.

no but would your family have any control over the decisions?

Not really. The “doctor knows best”

geeze that eeks me, we should be able to make decisions about our own health!

I know but it’s quite complicated here. I just hope I pass away in my sleep with my dignity intact.

many say that, we can only hope but there are no guarantees!

I agree with you. An early demise is much better than that!

Very true.
The idea of Alzheimer’s or dementia is rather scary.

Alzheimer’s I witnessed in my mother-in-law and dementia in my dad… that lost vacant look in their eyes from time to time is heartbreaking.

It is indeed! Maybe it’s not that tough on the person themself as it is for their families.
