Dr. Tanya is the host of Blogging Insights Series
She says;
We discussed writing prompts earlier in the Blogging Insights series too, you can click here to read that post. In response to that post, lots of bloggers shared how and why they respond to writing prompts. Today we look at the question from the other side of the table. Many bloggers organise prompts on their blogs and today we invite them to share their experience.
TODAY’S QUESTION :
What is the value of running writing prompts to your writing in general, and your blog in particular?
I think that prompts are a great way to nudge our creative thinking. When I started blogging, it took me little time to discover prompts, and then I was hooked on them. Daily, weekly, or monthly prompts all are a good way to exercise my imagination and to step out of my comfort zone.
I regularly used to follow Helene’s weekly picture prompt. It inspired me to write short stories and poems.
After she passed away last year, I took a huge step when I decided to continue with her weekly prompt,
What do you see
I am grateful to all my blogging community who supported my efforts and now it’s become a regular feature on my blog. Every Monday I post an image and ask my readers to write something about it.
How this has impacted my blog and readership?
I think the about of traffic has significantly increased to my blog. People are visiting and joining in the challenge. The number of people who follow my blog has also increased a lot.
So yes, I would say prompts are a good way to interact with our fellow bloggers. It also exposes the participants to greater readership because of pingbacks. Most people taking part in a prompt would like to read what others have written about the same prompt.
Thank you so much Tanya for your blogging insights series.

I don’t do a lot of prompts, my over-active seems to be always full of ideas… but I try to do 2 prompt responses a week, because they are a fresh and different challenge for me… especially when I’m becoming overly engrossed by a certain theme or topic

That’s the best part about six word stories. They come in very handy at times. They are the reason I haven’t lost my streak! And it’s an absolute pleasure to host 6WSP series. 🙂
I am glad that I was able to lead so many bloggers into the world of six words 🙂
