The Gutenberg Editor, a WordPress editing program, made its appearance a year or so back. It was supposed to be, like all new things, better than the existing WordPress Editor. Today we discuss how we have (or have not) adapted to it:
What is your experience with the Gutenberg editor?
I tried to use the Gutenberg editor about a year back. And gave up in frustration. At that time my know-how of the technical side of blogging was not much and it seemed impossible to do anything on it.
This year in May, when the rumors were rife that we “had to” use the new block editor, I tried it again. It seemed to have improved, or maybe my tech knowledge had improved a little but I still found it too much of a hassle. It’s time-consuming and needlessly complicated.
And since I do have the option of disabling the block editor on my WP app, I have done so.
Do you prefer it over the previous editor?
And I don’t know anyone who does.
If you are not satisfied with Gutenberg, what suggestions can you make to WordPress to enhance your blogging experience?
I would tell them to leave well alone. Let the classic editor be the default editor and stop messing with the tools we have left on WordPress. They took away the spell/ grammar check without any rhyme or reason and have made other changes to it which have made things more difficult.
So DON’T MESS with it!
