And the words: “My orders are clear. Eleven o’clock was the deadline.” – The Moon is Down – John Steinbeck.

My orders are clear. Eleven o’clock was the deadline and I needed to follow the orders to the dot.

I entered the warehouse and asked the shift manager to start loading the merchandise onto the transporters.

“Why is it taking so long”, I yelled impatiently.

“Sir, there’s a problem with the merchandise” he answers.

“What do you mean a problem? You were told to have it all ready before 11 and now it is almost 11:15! You know what my orders are? ” I yelled again losing my temper.

Just then a young man hurried in with a clipboard in his hand.”All done sir”, he said smartly.

I ventured out to check. The sheep were mulling about in the back of the truck.

But where was the black sheep?

I checked again and couldn’t see it.

“You’ve lost the most important part of the consignment!”

“These genetically modified sheep are precious and the back one was extra special. Without it, the whole mission will fail”.

“Please do check sir”, came the confident reply, ” it is camouflaged and hiding at the back”

After checking that he was correct, I drove the truck and my next stop was the shearing house.
