Blogging Insights- Writing Genre

1. What is your passion with regards writing genres?

Like you, I started with totally different ideas as to what I was going to write on my blog. During the last 22 months, my writing has progressed on totally different lines.

You can say that my writing is geared towards spreading awareness and positivity. My poems and stories are often written with that aim in mind.

2. What is your chosen genre?

Poetry seems best suited to my style of writing. I love to write poems because you can say things more effectively in fewer words. And perhaps it also has more impact. I can and do write prose, and short stories but I would choose a poem over that any day.

3. What is the genre you might like to write about but lack the confidence to start?

Right now, I think I am in my comfort zone when I write in any genre. Fiction is perhaps the weakest and poetry is stronger. One thing that I would like to write is humor. I loved reading PG Woodhouse and would love to write something in his style but I don’t think I have the flair to do it.

  1. My guess is a lot of first time bloggers change and mold their blog as they learn. But if you were to take a blogger who has done if a couple of years and they wanted to zero in on a genre, I bet it would be easier. Nice answers Sadje!
