Thursday Inspiration- Beast

Paula is the host of Thursday Inspiration

This week’s theme is beast and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Beast of Burden,” a 1978 song from the Rolling Stones.

I’ll never be your beast of burden
My back is broad but it’s a hurting
All I want for you to make love to me
I’ll never be your beast of burden
I’ve walked for miles my feet are hurting
All I want for you to make love to me

Don’t be a beast to me, she wailed stridently

I don’t want you to befriend me or include me

In your elite clique of the chosen few

But I do want to be treated with respect

Given dignity and due regard for I am human too

Though I don’t look like you or speak like you

My religion is different and so is the way I dress

Nonetheless, I am your equal as I am human too

( With this post I wanted to highlight how people, especially young people treat their peers who are different from them. A form of bullying when they show their contempt by being mean and nasty)

      1. It seems today that too many young people feel cruelty is “cool”. I fear for the future sometimes but then I meet the most wonderful young people and I am reminded again not to paint groups of people with the same brush.

  1. I really think kids (to a point) are desensitized to violence and pain between all the action movies where the hero walks through a gun fight with 20 other people and never gets hit once. And they are exposed to it on the news (the video of George Floyd was too gruesome for me to watch more than that first time) and in some VERY realistic video games. Pain just doesn’t seem to matter. Case in point… they said last week on the news there was a new “challenge” on youtube where kids were kneeling on other kids necks…. Where are the parents when these videos are being shot? Ok, I will step off my soap box now… I just strongly feel bullying has to stop. Very good post Sadje!
