So there are fans and then there are fans

I am no fan of fancy empty symbols of stardom

Neither am I a fan of what everyone is raving about

Am I a snob you ask

No not at all, at least by my own reckoning

I am just a bit picky who to idolize and revere

Popularity or mere beauty doesn’t get my attention

I want character and integrity to be present

In those that get my appreciation or admiration

Let the hoards of people rush after the stars

I will follow those who have gold in their hearts
