And the Words: “Nobody can be held responsible for the pranks of destiny.”
― Picnic at Hanging Rock
~*~
With great excitement, the Gates family prepared for their annual picnic. All the cousins were invited, grandparents cajoled and young kids scolded into attending this family event.
It was a ritual that was in place for the last several years. They would decide on a mutually convenient place and time each year and get together for some quality family time. News and views were exchanged. New members were introduced and all had fun because it was just once a year. Too much family time can breed intolerance and contempt.
This year they had chosen to have the picnic at the hanging rock, on a sunny April Sunday.
But it wasn’t like any picnic they ever had before. What happened that day was a twist of fate because nobody can be held responsible for the pranks of destiny! How could anybody have known that the water was infested by an unknown strain of mutant bacteria. The symptoms started appearing almost immediately. By the time they realized that something was seriously wrong, most were already infected.
They couldn’t find any cure for it either. And had to live the rest of their lives hiding from the world their hairy apes like appearance.

lol very creative, made me smile!
This is an aussie pic and place I know well … a group of school girls picniced there is 1900 and three students and a teacher went missing. No remains have ever been found and the speculation around it grows. …

So I wasn’t far off depicting this place as sinister.
Thanks Kate.

had a few picnics and clambered about myself … wouldn’t call it sinister, but very mysterious! It never aroused fear but one always felt that anything could happen there …

oh yes real energy, no idea if they ever consulted our First Nation people but I’m sure they could add to the mystique 🙂
