Daily Prompts- A right to protest

How can anyone impugn the right

Of people to stand in protest

To protest against the way of thinking

Thinking which makes one person better than the other

Doesn’t give any reprieve to the weak in the society

That leaves the fallen to suffer without a thought

The thought that might is right or

That, if I have the privilege, I can abuse it

This is the time to stand up and be counted

Counted among those who raised their voices

Voices against oppression and inhumanity

Rearrange the framework of this society

And make it better

Make it kinder and equal for all

In response to the following prompts;

Expenditure, Reprieve, Continuance

Word of the day challenge;

  1. One true test of how free a society is is the official response when you resist the status quo. You see what’s happening in the US right now. I remember a few years ago, when a man plowed through the group of protestors and murdered one, our leader refused to condemn the act. I remember at his rallies when he instructed his magas to beat people in the crowd who spoke up. He’s proven what his view is by his actions. He needs to go, and he needs to go now. I hate to say it, but I think Bernie was a coward for backing off in 2016 and again in 2020. We need a person with courage and fortitude to lead us. Sadje, your poem rings with truth.
