Daily Prompts- Relationships

For some, intimacy is like standing on a precipice

They are afraid to venture forward for fear of falling

Commitment is being loyal and for the fickle natured

It is not something they are familiar with at all

And it isn’t easy either to overcome this abhorrence

To be faithful to one to the exclusion of all

The hobby to change partners often has to go

If a relationship is to survive the test of time

“Give me some space“, has to change in favor of

“Let’s do this together” and really mean it too

It may not be in a person’s nature to be loyal to one

But those who are have found eternal joy and peace

  1. I’m thinking people who change partners don’t have an easy life; all those emotional break-ups; all that getting to know someone new again — and discover some not-very-nice habits. Major change is emotionally destabilizing at best. Anyway, thanks for joining the prompt.

  3. Funny thing is one of the happiest couples I ever met had never once argued, always smiles at each other, utterly supportive. But they bought houses next to each other. Lived separately for part of the week. Lived together at weekends. Still going strong after all these years.
