Fandango’s Provocative Question #66- Second chances

Fandango

FPQWelcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question.

As some of you know, I’m using old sayings or adages for my A to Z Blogging Challenge this year. One old expression I came across was “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”571BE568-5C27-41DF-80BC-D1685271F7D6This got me thinking about second chances, as in when someone has seriously “done you wrong,” and then asks you to forgive them for whatever it is that they did.

So my question this week is simply this:

Do you believe in giving people second chances? If so, why? If not, why not?

believegivingsecondchances if a person is genuinely sorry. But not third, fourth, and …..

We all make mistakes and it is part of being human. I have made many mistakes in my life. Though never will bad intentions. It is a part of my personality to be impulsive. I run in where angels fear to tread. So it is logical that I have made many blunders in life. Wrong decision, wrong comment, and bad timings.

So I feel that if the other person has made a genuine mistake, they should be given another chance. But after that, if the same pattern of behavior continues, then don’t be a fool and wash your hands off them. Because if we voluntarily ask others to make fools of us, it’s definitely our fault, not theirs!

The only exception I make is my immediate family. They may not reform their ways but I like to maintain family ties. I wouldn’t be very close to them any longer, but I won’t cut the ties completely. You know how the blood is thicker than water!

Some families like drama!

    1. Interesting topic! Is this like forgiveness or forgiving and not giving them a second chance you run you over??
One old cliche deals with this – “Once a cheater, always a cheater”. Sometimes I guess we have to be willing to be hurt again???
