Stream Of Consciousnesses Saturday -11April 2020

Linda is the host of Stream Of Consciousnesses Saturday

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “joint.” Use it as a noun, an adjective, or a verb–use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

To me, the word joint will mostly evoke memories of the pain and anguish I suffered due to my knee joints! I suffered a lot because of the pre-mature disintegration of both my knee joints due to a form of rheumatoid arthritis. But all that is behind me since I got both my natural bony joints replaced with titanium joints. Now I always emit a loud beep ( the scanner at the gates does that, but I like to think I did) whenever going through security checks. Most of the time they ask me to step aside, very politely, but gingerly. I have to go through extra checking because they never take my word for it that the metal in my body is making that sound. I probably look like a very dangerous terrorist.

But it is really a minor discomfort. The great thing is that there is no pain in my joints anymore. And I can walk and stand for a reasonable amount of time. But I have to give credit to my doctor who was so confident about the outcome of the surgery that I was never double-minded about it. So I can say that it was a joint effort that my surgery was a big success. And obviously, my family did play their part. If it were a show it could be called a joint production!

    1. That’s good that you’re thinking of surgery. Do try to strengthen your quad muscles before the surgery. They are the ones which are going to help the best in recovery.

  1. I love being a cyborg too! My man-made part is my pain pump. I also set off security checkers. I have a little card I show, but they still want to use their hand-held scanners and check. I dont let it get my nose out of joint.😉😂😂

    1. My doctor told me that I should decide when I want the surgery. He said when I am unable to do what I want, that is the time to think of getting it done. Take care and it will yet last you some years.
