Police were wearing riot gear and standing behind the barricade. An angry mob was on the other side shouting anti-government slogans and telling them to step down.

The chief of the police tried to negotiate with the leader of the protesters but to no avail. The leader was an old man and his only condition was the resignation of the President. This was not the only site of protests. All over the country, people had risen up against the government policies. The most unacceptable was the discriminatory laws against the local population and so was the ruling class’s attitude who had usurped the power almost a century ago. The locals were forbidden from using the clubs and posh dining areas which were exclusive for the white skinned ruling class.
