PROMPT

As usual, there is no restriction on length or format of the piece.
~*~
I wish I could capture a handful of memories
From those far off days in my past
To keep them safe and close to my heart
I would take them out when I feel down
And replay all those golden moments of the past
As an elixir they would lift my spirits
And chase away the doldrums and blues
The past was not perfect by any means
But my memories of it are idyllic
How we remember the good old days!

Exquisitely beautiful! ‘Handful of memories’ sets the tone.
There is a NLP technique called ‘Swish’ which is similar to what you describe.

I didn’t know what NPL stood for. Very interesting technique. Yeah we can do that. Replace bad memories with good, brighter ones. 👍😉

NLP- Neuro Linguistic Programming. Swish is about visualizing good feelings and memories in a golden pack and storing it somewhere. When you feel low, mentally open the gold pack, release contents and let the feelings permeate through your being.

Thanks! I checked it out. If successful, it would mean an end to all our gut wrenching anguish over the past. We could replace those memories with happy ones!

First off, I love that picture! Your words captivating and they resonate with me. Even though my childhood was rough, there were still really wonderful moments I wish I could have kept in a jar. Although life can certainly throw us curveballs, there are actually fun times to remember, thank goodness for those Memories to fulfill our hearts.

So beautiful poem. Only golden memories make our present beautiful. We should give a goid burial to the bad ones.
