BrewNSpew Café- 7 October 2019- Ghoulish

Eugenia is the host of BrewNSpew Café.

BrewNSpew reaches a milestone with 4,000 followers and over 1,500 posts –

Changing of the leaves – with the autumnal equinox in late September, foliage season has officially begun across much of the U.S. Did you know that the foliage color is triggered by the amount of daylight (not weather)?

Presenting the week’s prompt – You may use the word(s), phrase and/or image to interpret the prompt.

Weekly prompt – ghoulish – (adjective) – 1) strangely diabolical or cruel; monstrous. 2) showing fascination with death, disease, maiming, etc.; morbid. 3) of, relating to, or like a ghoul or ghouls.

The ghoulish laughter rang in the air

There was a underlying streak of glee too

I knew what was coming my way, as there was

Just one thing that would give him so much joy

The little boy rushed in his palms cupped protectively

Around something that was meant as a surprise for me

Laughing hysterically he opened his small hand to reveal

Something green sitting docilely staring without interest at me

“Look grandma I brought you a present” he said as

The “present” made a leap for freedom right towards my face

And I barely avoided swallowing a frog,

I will never understand the fascination little boys have

For all things yucky and dirty

But you’ve to love them for their adorable sentiments
