Weekly prompt – harvest moon (noun) – The Harvest Moon is the Full Moon nearest the September equinox, which occurs around September 22, but this particular name depends on the autumnal equinox. It is also called Full Corn Moon or Barley Moon.


Glowing larger than life in the night sky

Harvest moon attracts our attention

For some this is a sign that summer is at end

Other have more romantic association with it

For some people, it is a magical time

The practical types think it’s God given

To complete the harvest of crops late into night

What are the mysteries hidden behind

The charming orange glow of the moon

It gives us the creative types a lot of fuel

To weave stories and poems about it
