And the Words: “He built his fires in a thousand places and slept on the banks of rivers. The grass grew over his tracks, but he knew where they were when he came again.” – The Shiralee by D’arcy Niland

~*~*~

In the heat of the day, the dusty road shimmered in the glare. It almost looked like a mirage. It was something which was new. Ten years ago there was just a dirt track here. Coming home was full of nostalgia at how things used to be and wonder at how much they had changed.

When he had left he had built his fires in a thousand places and slept on the banks of rivers. The grass grew over his tracks, but he knew where they were when he came again. Even though now everything was changed. Somethings never did!
