When he first started to learn to play the sax, he had high hopes. Dream of playing solo to a packed house with standing ovations seemed to be attainable.

He learned to play but according to his instructor he lacked the flair which all great musicians shared. But he had fallen in love with playing and making his own music. At the end his teacher told him that there wasn’t much he could teach him anymore. Now he comes here to play and enjoy his music. There are no critics here. No one to protest if he plays off key. Just him and his music.

  1. I know how he feels! My piano tutor told my Dad he couldn’t teach me. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to learn, but after two years he finally cottoned on why I asked him to play my new piece first. I played what I heard, not what was written, and he said that to force me to learn could destroy my natural gift and I’d probably never play at all. That was almost 50 years ago and I’ve been playing since I was about 3.

    1. Sadie,

I’m looking for a way to send you a private message, but I don’t see you have DM {direct messages} enabled on your blog or Twitter; I can’t find you on IG.

I want to ask if you could please remove my moniker ‘@Bikurgurl’ or my ‘signature’ from your post? I am happy for anyone to use the photo prompts with credit to the artist, but the other photos/images on my site are covered under common license; please request use of these.

Thank you kindly – and do feel free to delete this comment as it was meant as private communication from me to you as a writing friend 🖤

      1. Agreed! Even though this occurred to me as a child, I had to work hard to continue the trend as an adult. A parent. It’s so easy to fall into bad habits and thoughtless action – I loved digging more into your blog today and seeing we both have the desire to grow in our understanding of ourselves. This growth-mindset is why I keep plugging away on my own little blog … just an hour or so at a time 🖤
