Welcome to Thursday Inspiration! This is my weekly prompt post and hopefully it will inspire you to write something creative, perhaps a poem or a piece of flash fiction. If you’d like to share your writing with the community, please indulge me and tag your post with #p0eticlicense and/or #lightm0tifs, and of course link back if you wish. I will try to visit everyone who participates. 🙂
This week’s theme is shadows and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Shadows” by Gordon Lightfoot:
There’s a shadow on the moon
And the waters here below
Do not shine the way they should
And I love you just in case you didn’t know

The shadow was all encompassing
It looked like it had swallowed the moon
The sky was in the dark, the moonlight a glimmer
He looked up and tried to find his beloved
Nothingness stared back at him, the sky inky black
His heart was breaking but could not break his resolve
Maybe it was the strength of his love that made
The shadow move away from the glow of the moon
Then the landscape lit up with the enchanting light
And far away where he could barely discern
A form he could see coming towards him, floating on the breeze
A smile broke on his face as he rushed to greet his beloved with open arms
