Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge #10

Fandango has posted another photo prompt for us to write about. He says;

Welcome to “Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge.” Each week I will be posting a photo I grab off the internet and challenge bloggers to write a relatively short flash fiction piece inspired by the photo. While there are no definitive style or word limits, I suggest trying to keep your posts to under 300 words.

The day after

It seemed that there wasn’t anyone alive but them. They had survived because of the bunker they had built under their basement. It was the idea of their architect, to have a safe place to stay in case of a disaster striking.

But they never thought they would need to use it. But it was very useful when all the elements raged against the abuse people were piling on the environment. After the storms and hurricanes had settled, they decided to venture outside, but not without their masks. A sight of total chaos met their eyes. Debris flying everywhere and not a soul in sight. The held each other’s hand for comfort.

This was now their home!
