Reena’s Exploration Challenge #82

This week, Reena has given us this challenge. She says;

PROMPT

I am not a fatalist. I’m not obsessed with darkness. Yet, a landmark development in astronomy this week inspires me to remain on the periphery of the theme, but not get sucked inside.

See if you can explore the science, give it a new twist,write a fairy tale or fables around it, or give it a totally new meaning. Blackholes do not exist only in space. Many of us have those in our minds, when we cut ourselves off from the world.

FOR THE NEW ENTRANTS

What is a black hole?

The recently released image of the black hole has the world in an uproar. There are much speculation about this black hole. The sheer magnitude of this entity makes us wonder what else is out there in the distant night sky that we yet have to discover or witness. It’s something that was speculated upon for a lot of years and there are a number of sci-fi movies and TV series based upon the certainty of this scientific phenomenon.

Black hole is described as an area of space where the gravity is so strong that not even particles of light can escape from it. This photographic evidence can lead to further exciting discoveries in this field!

After Reena posted this picture, I got some information from BBC about this image.

( Astronomers have taken the first ever image of a black hole, which is located in a distant galaxy.

It measures 40 billion km across – three million times the size of the Earth – and has been described by scientists as “a monster”.

The black hole is 500 million trillion km away and was photographed by a network of eight telescopes across the world.
