First Line Fridays February 15/2019

It is First Line Friday! Welcome and let’s get writing.

I’ll provide the first line, you get to write whatever comes afterward. Length, genre, and structure are completely up to you. Feel free to modify the line as you see fit, adding punctuation, quotes, or other bits if so desired. No need to tie it to the picture, unless you want to.

Or for more of a challenge, change nothing. You have a week to write it, enjoy!

Include the first line of course! Tag it Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie, First Line Fridays, and short fiction. Create a link (ping-back) to this post and add your link to Mister Linky below.

Your line for this week is:

The falcon launched into the air to swiftly become a sharp speck against the sky. From that great height its laser sharp eyes detected the traps laid for its capture by the men. They were ruthless and greedy. But she was not going to be captured by those traps. She was a majestic bird with a visual accuracy almost three times that of a human eye and flight speed of two hundred kilometers per hour and diving speed close to three hundred kilometers per hour. She was not an easy target to be captured.

And today, she had a different mission. It flew high towards the rocky mountains and found its nest, where the fledglings were waiting to be fed. The falcon fed the four fledglings and waited for its partner to arrive.

After his arrival, she took off in a graceful flight, soaring above the mountains and scanning the valley for what she was looking for. As soon as her target came into view, she went into a swift dive and was near the ground in matter of few seconds. It was a barn where she was headed. Inside the men were talking together. Today they had trapped another falcon for illegal trade. She gave a loud screech and attacked the head honcho, aiming for his eyes. There was panic among them at this unexpected attack. The bag which was holding the falcon slipped from the hand of the man who was in charge of it and that falcon, who was a female too escaped. Both the birds flew out of the barn to safety. The plan was foiled for today and a bird escaped captivity.
