Three Things Challenge #36

The net came up heavy and loaded

The fishermen were very excited

On examining, only a girl octopus

Was found smiling in the net

There was awe and wonder

At seeing such an unusual creature

The sea had gifted them with

Her tentacles were ready to grab

Anyone who came within their reach

Not to harm, but to just crease loving

And giving a playful pinch on the cheek

Written in response to;

3TC

tentacle, girl, sea

  1. Love it !!! Do you know female octopuses die around the time their eggs hatch. She reproduces only once and puts her available energy into generating and caring for her eggs. She finds a den and lays her eggs there. After that she does not eat and spends her whole time caring for the eggs, cleaning them and aerating them. It is likely that octopuses have evolved mechanisms enabling them to match the number of eggs they produce to their available energy.
