As I checked into the room at the B&B, where I was staying for a couple of nights, the first thing that caught my eye was the calendar that was hanging on the wall. It appeared to be made in Japan. The days were written in Japanese and had an ink drawing of a garden on the top. My musings were interpreted by the entry of the maid who had come to refresh the room. She opened the windows and the balmy afternoon air stirred the curtains at the window. “Is that clover I can smell? “I asked her. “Yes ma’am” she replied. “There are clover fields right next to our inn. The scent is heavenly, isn’t it” she said with pride as she fluffed up my pillow, and I agreed with her.
