The Associates

They had all gathered, the meeting about to start

The associate bringing the papers and the coffee

Their work was intricate, complex and demanding

It was the quest for justice for those without the means

To pay the price of justice and freedom that was their right

The lawyers would work for free, pro bono you will call it

Giving their time and attention, to device the defense tactics

For the victims of the system, the ones who had been denied

Their right to defend themselves because of dearth of monies

Their umbrage was addressed by the very people who had caused it
