SoCS 12th Jan : Art

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “art.” Talk about something that’s hanging on your wall. Add a picture, if you’d like. If you have no art on your walls, talk about something in a museum. Have fun

Sunflowers painted by Claude Monet in 1881.

Owning an original is way out of my budget. Owning a copy falls in the same category. At best I can and do have a print of this remarkable painting. As I may have mentioned before I love yellow color and I love sunflowers. I fell in love with this painting and with some searching, acquired a print of it. Where from? You might ask? Online obviously!

Since I am no expert on art I will let the painting speak for itself. By the way this is an image of the original painting.

  1. Nice! just for your information, you may want to note that the vase is Japanese a small detail but reflective of the “Japonisme” (as it was called in France) at the time —love for all things Japanese (Van Gogh, Degas and others also used some Japanese details in their paintings). This one dates from 1881 I think and is at the Met in New York, but I guess you know that. Thanks for this!
